2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a global action plan adopted in 2015 by the member states of the United Nations to address the world’s most pressing challenges, including poverty, inequality, climate change, and limited access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. Its main purpose is to promote development that improves people’s quality of life while protecting the planet and ensuring that future generations can meet their own needs. To achieve this, the agenda establishes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 specific targets to be pursued by governments, organizations, businesses, and civil society by the year 2030.

The agenda is based on three key dimensions of sustainable development:Social, focused on improving well-being, equality, and access to basic services.Economic, aimed at promoting inclusive growth, employment, and innovation.Environmental, dedicated to protecting natural resources and combating climate change.A central principle of the agenda is “leave no one behind,” meaning that progress should reach all people, especially the most vulnerable populations.

In practice, the 2030 Agenda serves as a framework that guides public policies, social initiatives, educational programs, and community projects around the world.
